GoDaddy has put out a press release indicating that they have just acquired Dan.com, a domain name sales platform. According to GoDaddy, the objective of the acquisition is to provide “opportunities…[for their] customers with the integration of Dan.com’s automation and lease to own options.”
DomainNameWire has more details as to the relationship between the two organizations. They report that Dan.com began as Undeveloped, a domain resale outfit attempting to compete against GoDaddy with aftermarket domain purchases. They rebranded to Dan.com when they began delving into blockchain for their transfers. While this move didn’t pan out, they obtained enough aftermarket success using landing pages as a sales platform to catch GoDaddy’s eye.
The details of the acquisition remain undisclosed.
