Verisign domains slip in US markets, but still sees revenue boost

Domain Name News is reporting that despite a downturn in the number of domain names registered in the last quarter, Verisign reported 3.8% year on year increase in revenue for the same interval. Domain extension .com and .net have seen base registrations fall for the past six quarters, down 2.8% year over year. Verisign was quick to point to China as the source of its reduced domain base, but US registrations are also down by 850,000 in the third quarter of the year.
