Politico is reporting that the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) is delaying its scheduled date for deciding the fate of the .org registry. A proposed deal would have part of the .org registry–widely used by non-profit charities–owned by Ethos Capital, a private equity firm. The decision has been postponed until next month, but already overwhelmed charities and non-profit groups have been raising the alarm regarding possible rate hikes.
ICANN has scheduled the final decision for May 4th, 2020.
